Research and Development in Building Constructions and Structures

The institute's ability to carry out research and development is officially confirmed by a  certificate issued by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic. The institute is also a member of the European Network of Building Research Institutes (ENBRI).

In the field of building constructions and structures, the institute's research and development primarily focus on thermal protection and renovation of buildings, as well as energy efficiency in buildings. The institute represents the Slovak Republic in the Concerted Action on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), operating within the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) program, with a focus on energy efficiency in buildings.

The results of research tasks are applied in the design of technical standards, as well as in the drafting of laws and regulations. They are published in books, presented at conferences and professional seminars.

A brief overview of past and current research activities related to the elimination of systemic failures and the application of External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) is provided in the attachment: "Research-Buildings."
