The institute's ability to conduct research and development is officially confirmed by a certificate issued by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic. The institute is also a member of the European Network of Building Research Institutes (ENBRI).
In the field of testing methods, the institute has recently developed a method for determining the coefficient of linear expansion of concrete with respect to temperature (available as a proposal for a Slovak Technical Standard, STN). Additionally, a method for verifying the reduction of crack formation in concrete through the analysis of digital surface images of samples has been developed and implemented - Information sheet no. 07.
The Metrology Laboratory of the institute has adopted and implemented an efficient method for verifying the mesh size of test sieves by determining the average size of sieve openings using a test material (glass beads) with a known distribution of individual fractions in the mixture.
