Building Renovation Projects

An essential process in carrying out building renovations, including insulation, involves:

  • diagnosis (objectification) of the actual condition, conducted through visual diagnostics (inspection) and, based on the extent and severity, substantiated by measurements;
  • project documentation prepared for construction permits (including necessary calculations demonstrating compliance with the requirements of applicable laws and technical standards) at the level of implementation (execution) project documentation (design of details and specifics enabling high-quality construction).

The structure and content of project documentation are prescribed by the Guidelines of the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic 2007-13357/129469-2:530/Rý, dated August 24, 2007, regarding the issues of approving completed building modifications - construction adjustments related to changing thermal protection of buildings by additional insulation. The extent of project documentation is generally defined by the Decree of the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic No. 453/2000 Coll., § 9, and the scope of documentation for the insulation of building envelopes is determined by STN 73 2901: 2008 Execution of External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS).

In case of systemic malfunctions, an Expert Assessment and an Inventory List for System Malfunctions are additionally prepared (see also the elimination of systemic malfunctions).
